Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has made a powerful entrance into Nigeria’s energy landscape, achieving remarkable milestones in just over 100 days.
Since assuming operatorship of the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR joint venture in March 2025, following its acquisition of Shell’s onshore assets—the company has ramped up production to over 200,000 barrels of oil per day and delivered 1.9 billion cubic feet of gas to Bonny NLNG. This marks a significant feat not accomplished in nearly five years.
Dr. Layi Fatona, Chairman of Renaissance, shared these developments during a strategic panel session titled “Harnessing Africa’s Energy Shift: From Acquisition to Optimisation”, held on the sidelines of the Nigeria Energy Week 2025 in Abuja.
Calling for stronger ties across the oil and gas value chain, Dr. Fatona said,
“We are entering a new dawn where collaboration is no longer just a buzzword, it’s becoming a reality.
The level of cooperation we’re seeing today between NNPC Limited and operating companies is unprecedented and commendable.”
He reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to delivering on the government’s aspirations in both oil and gas, safely, diligently, and with respect for the environment.
Renaissance’s rapid success earned it industry-wide recognition at the Annual NOG) Energy Award Ceremony culminating in the prestigious “Energy Excellence Award”, presented at Transcorp Hilton , Abuja .
Tony Attah, Managing Director and CEO of Renaissance, received the award and described the company as not just a name, but a bold declaration of ambition, belief, and courage.
He dedicated the award to the company’s indigenous workforce, and he said:
“We represent a new era of Nigerian-led energy leadership, committed to enabling energy security and industrialisation in a sustainable manner.”
He noted that Renaissance operates Nigeria’s largest upstream joint venture with a portfolio comprising 15 onshore and three shallow-water Oil Mining Leases, in addition to the Bonny and Forcados crude export terminals.
Attah affirmed the company’s commitment to inclusive collaboration.
He said, “We will work with anyone, public or private, local or global, who shares our belief that Africa’s energy future must be built by Africans, for Africans.”
