… dismisses allegations of gas supply monopoly, trade war

The management of Xenergi Limited has refuted claims linking the company to a land dispute between Axxela Limited and the Emo Ebendo/Umuseti communities in Delta State.

Xenergi, made this known in a rebuttal statement issued in response to media reports attributing comments to Axxela Limited regarding alleged land encroachment and community disruption.

It therefore rejected assertions that it is attempting “to monopolize gas supply in the region, using Emo Ebendo as a proxy in what is essentially a trade war.”

Describing the allegations as unfortunate, Xenergi Limited emphasized that it remains a focused commercial entity with no involvement in representing any community in the dispute.

The company further reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to peaceful coexistence with its host communities, ensuring optimized field operations with minimal social or security disruptions.

“Our operations have been characterized by years of healthy and peaceful engagement with our host communities. This has been possible through our commitment to the lawful acquisition of land in a transparent and respectful manner,” the statement read.

Xenergi further highlighted that its business model is based on structured Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and collaborative community arrangements aimed at driving infrastructure growth, economic empowerment, and sustainable development in Delta State.

It added that its land acquisition processes strictly adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks, with the full participation and consent of key stakeholders.

The company stressed that disputes of such nature should be resolved through dialogue, legal channels, and institutional processes.

“We remain committed to any process that fosters harmonious resolutions and enhances collaboration in delivering the government’s aspirations for the gas industry as outlined in the Decade of Gas programme,” the statement added.

Xenergi called on relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and restore peace, mutual trust, and stability in the host communities.

“We advocate for development rooted in fairness, respect for lawful ownership, and genuine community engagement,” it stated.

Reaffirming its dedication to sustainable development and ethical business practices, Xenergi pledged to work closely with community leaders, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

“The future of Delta State depends on sustainable, transparent, and equitable principles, which we remain committed to upholding,” the company stated.
