Ministry of Petroleum Resources confirms participation in 2nd edition of Gas Investment Forum in October

Oredola Adeola

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming 2nd edition of the Gas Investment Forum, set to take place in Lagos this October, as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing Nigeria’s gas sector and attracting significant investment to fuel the nation’s economic growth.

Osaze Isesele, Gas Investment Forum Event Director, made this known in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports, ahead of the event scheduled to take place from October 22nd to 24th, 2024, at Oriental Hotel, Lagos.

In a formal document accepting the invitation to participate, Ambassador Nicholas Ella, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, expressed the Ministry’s strong support for the forum.

“It is my pleasure to express support for this important event,” he stated.

Amb. Ella noted that the theme of the forum, “Powering Nigeria’s Gas Future,” aligns with the federal government’s policy goals as articulated by the Ministry.

He added, “The Ministry, instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s energy policy, will provide a detailed presentation of its recent achievements and unveil upcoming strategies aimed at advancing the nation’s gas industry.”

He also highlighted the significance of this year’s forum, which will focus on critical issues such as energy security, industrialization, and economic growth.

Osaze Isesele praised the Ministry and the Permanent Secretary for their support and active role in promoting sustainable long-term investment in Nigeria’s gas sector.

“We are encouraged by this partnership and look forward to Nigeria’s leadership in advancing gas development at this year’s Gas Investment Forum,” Isesele said.

He further mentioned that during the event, the Ministry is expected to provide updates on critical infrastructure projects, including the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline and the expansion of Nigeria’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

He noted that these developments are seen as vital for enhancing energy security and promoting the industrialization of the Nigerian economy.

“The Gas Investment Forum is recognized as a landmark event in accelerating West Africa’s gas revolution.

“Positioned at the forefront of the gas industry, the forum underscores Nigeria’s pivotal role in global energy dynamics, with a focus on African-led dialogue and decision-making.

“Covering the entire gas value chain, the forum serves as a vital platform for engagement, bringing together government leaders, CEOs, development finance experts, and investors. It aims to address current investment needs and accelerate opportunities for a gas-powered economic future,” the organiser said.

Isesele emphasized the importance of the forum, inspired by Nigeria’s vast gas resources and its potential to drive economic growth, industrialization, and sustainable development. He concluded by stating that the Gas Investment Forum 2024 is expected to welcome over 600 delegates, solidifying its position as a hub for sustainable investment in the African gas market.
