“Recent growth in the nation’s crude oil production was as a result of President Tinubu’s Executive Orders” – Kyari

Mele Kyari, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer has announced that the Port Harcourt refinery is set to commence production by early August 2024, adding that the Kaduna refinery will start operations by December 2024.

Kyari assured, “I am not lying this time.”

Kyari made this promise during an emergency interactive session with managers of the nation’s economy, organized by the Senate Committee on Finance and led by Senator Muhammed Musa, to address pressing economic issues at the National Assembly in Abuja on Monday.

The GCEO further emphasized that Nigeria aims to become a net exporter of refined petroleum products by December of this year.

He highlighted that with the operational commencement of the Dangote refinery, the country is on track to achieve a target of refining two million barrels per day, positioning Nigeria as a net exporter of petroleum products by the year’s end.

Recall that Kyari had last year initially projected that production would start in the next two weeks, by the end of March 2024, after the mechanical completion of the facility was achieved in December 2023.

He further mentioned that the country’s oil and gas industry is critical in bringing a turnaround in the current economic situation, hence the importance.

The GCEO also noted that the recent growth in the nation’s crude oil production was as a result of Mr. President’s Executive Orders and the ongoing war on low crude oil production embarked by the NNPC Limited and other industry stakeholders.

“The NNPC Limited will continue to live up to its mandate of guaranteeing national energy security, as stipulated by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021,” Kyari added.
