The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has received certification from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, granting the national oil company entry into the Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS), a key development in enhancing its maritime operations and global connectivity.
Olufemi Soneye, NNPC Ltd., Chief Corporate Communications Officer, confirmed this in a statement, obtained by Advisors Reports on Sunday.
Advisors Reports gathered that the ISPS certification, issued by NIMASA to NNPC Ltd in April 2024 and covering all NNPC jetties nationwide, is a mandatory international standard for ensuring the security of ships, ports, and other maritime facilities and the safe and secure movement of goods and people across the globe.
