Wase-led Reps. House Ad-Hoc Committee to address IPMAN, NNPCL dispute on petrol sharing formula abuses

Oredola Adeola

Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has confirmed the appointment of Rt. Hon Ahmed Wase (APC, Plateau) as Chairman of the House Ad-Hoc Committee to engage with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on issues around abuse of the petrol sharing formula by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Advisors Reports gathered that the Committee was principally charged with the responsibility of engaging with the NNPCL to address the issues expressed by the IPMAN.

Abubakar Shettima, President of IPMAN, had earlier met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, in Abuja to discuss the allocation of products to the members of IPMAN.

He had informed the House of Representatives that the original allocation formula was for IPMAN to have 50 percent, the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria to receive 30 percent, and the NNPC was to retain 20 percent.

Shettima criticized the management of NNPCL for failing to comply with the agreement regarding the allocation of petrol to the over 150,000 outlets registered IPMAN members.

Meanwhile, Advisors Reports confirmed that the Rt. Hon Wase’s Ad-Hoc Committee is expected to take the necessary steps, inviting all the stakeholders in the sector to address the issues.
