… plans ICT hub, library, youth training institute for community development

Club Seventies Epe, in its 23rd year, has acquired two plots of land at Ita-Marun, Epe, Lagos State, to build a permanent multi-functional clubhouse that will include a public gym and an educational center to equip local youth with digital and vocational skills.

Mr.Yunus Yusuf, President of Club Seventies Epe, confirmed this during the club’s September monthly meeting, symbolically held at the newly acquired site.

According to him, the landmark move was aimed at deepening its impact on community development.

He added that the multi-functional facility that will benefit both club members and the broader Epe Division community.

Advisors Reports gathered that the members were excited as they gathered on the land where their long-anticipated dream is now beginning to materialise.

Yunus  emphasised that the proposed club house is not just for club activities but will also serve the wider community.

He said that plans are underway to develop a commercial hub on part of the land to generate revenue for sustaining the club’s programs.

“We intend to build a commercial hub that will attract businesses and generate revenue to support the club,” Mr. Yunus said.

He added that the site meeting symbolised the club’s readiness and resolve to begin construction and to involve all members in the next phase of development.

“Holding our September meeting on the site was a deliberate move to show our commitment and help members appreciate the significance of the project,” he explained.

“We plan to build a gym open to the public for a token fee, and an educational center that will provide ICT training and enlightenment programs for the youth,” Yunus added.

“This is our way of giving back and contributing to lasting development in the division,”President of Club Seventies Epe said.

Emeritus Edu Adebayo, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Trustees, in his comment about the development, praised the initiative as a game-changer for the community.

“Having a permanent operational base is vital for any social organisation.

“It provides the infrastructure needed to deliver developmental services consistently,” he said.

Edu confirmed that the planned facility will house offices, a library, an ICT hub, and a study center to promote learning and community growth.

Veteran club member and two-term representative, emeritus Kadri Shamsideen, also commended the project.

“Since the club’s founding nearly 23 years ago, having a permanent clubhouse has always been a key goal.

“This project will create a space where members can reconnect with their roots, families, and the evolving needs of our community,” he stated.

“It is a laudable initiative that will help take Epe to the next level.”

Emeritus Sanuth Ibrahim expressed full confidence in the club’s capacity to bring the project to life, noting that internal and external fundraising will be crucial.

“We have acquired the land, and the next step is mobilizing resources.

“We are ready to task ourselves and reach out to others—especially among our well-placed members within and outside Nigeria—who share our vision for positive change,” he noted.

“We have a clear timeline. Despite current financial challenges in Nigeria, we are confident that by next year, a structure will be standing here.

“Our first step is to demonstrate commitment before seeking external support.”
