EKEDC to boost power supply through IPP partnerships, upgrade more customers to Band A

… completes installation of new Chevron feeder in Satellite town, FESTAC district

Oredola Adeola

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with independent power producers to boost electricity supply hours and gradually upgrade customers in lower service bands to Band A.

The DisCo noted that the initiative is part of its ongoing strategy to improve service delivery through sustained investment in network infrastructure and workforce development.

Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh, Managing Director/CEO of The EKEDC, made this commitment during a customer engagement forum held on Thursday under the FESTAC Business District.

Advisors Reports confirmed that the interactive session brought together EKEDC management and customers to address pressing concerns, including technical challenges, billing cycle issues, and delays in prepaid meter programming following a recent system upgrade.

Managing Director/CEO, who was represented at the engagement forum by Mr. Babatunde Lasaki, General Manager, Corporate Communications and Strategy, outlined recently completed projects, notably the installation of the new Chevron Feeder in Satellite Town under the FESTAC District.

Lasaki said, “Part of EKEDC’s strategic plans is to partner with independent power producers to increase electricity supply hours and gradually upgrade customers currently in lower service bands to higher bands soon.

During the engagement, customers were urged to report any illegal activity, such as meter bypass and vandalism, through the company’s official whistle-blower channels.

Mr. Lasaki emphasized that proactive community reporting is critical to curbing energy infractions and maintaining infrastructure integrity.

Reassuring customers of EKEDC’s commitment, he stated, “We remain focused on working closely with our communities to promptly address complaints and enhance the overall quality of life through reliable electricity supply.”
