LSBTC hails VCDF, SEEPCO for donating 853 pints of blood in 4-year health partnership

… as VCDF/SEEPCO sets to establish voluntary blood donor club comprising volunteers

Oredola Adeola

The Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee (LSBTC) has commended Vcare for Development Foundation (VCDF) and Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) for their over four-year partnership in promoting community health and development through voluntary blood donation, contributing an impressive 853 pints of safe blood to Lagos State blood banks.

Dr. Bodunrin Osikomaiya, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee (LSBTC), made this known when he received Dr. Chris Offokansi, Chief General Manager, HR & IR at LSBTC office in Gbagada General hospital, Lagos.

According to Osikomaiya,  VCDF and SEEPCO has been committed to community health and development through voluntary blood donation.

She therefore expressed excitement in the receipt of the letter of intention to establish a Voluntary Blood Donor Club comprising SEEPCO volunteers.

He said, “This is a laudable initiative and aligns perfectly with our goal of ensuring a safe, sufficient, and readily available blood supply across Lagos State.

“The creation of a structured donor club will provide a sustainable and dependable platform for emergency blood mobilisation, especially in critical times,” the ES LSBTC stated.

She further informed Dr. Offokansi that calls for emergency blood donations from the club would be initiated and confirmed by LSBTC, specifically during national or state disasters or other critical situations where the Agency is unable to meet its operational demands.

According to her, this approach would help ensure that the system remains coordinated, efficient, and aligned with broader public health priorities.

The Executive Secretary also assured VCDF and SEEPCO of the Committee’s full support in bringing this noble vision to life, reaffirming their commitment to facilitate the establishment of the donor club and to provide the necessary technical guidance and capacity-building support required.
