The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has taken disciplinary action against its personnel involved in misrepresenting the company’s failure to meet estimated power supply for Band A feeders on April 9, 2024, to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), following incorrect fault attribution.

IBEDC management made this known in a statement obtained by Advisors Reports on Saturday, acknowledging the misrepresentation in their communication to customers where TCN was wrongly blamed for the inability to deliver the estimated hours of supply.

The TCN had in a statement published by Advisors Reports blamed IBEDC’s failure to meet its estimated power supply for Band A feeders on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN, General Manager, Public Affairs, in that statement revealed that the actual reasons for the outage on the DisCo’s 11kV and 33kV feeders were earth/over current faults, which it claimed have no bearing on the transmission company’s frequency control operations.

Meanwhile, the DisCo  in the statement on Saturday said that it has taken swift action to correct this and send the right signals to its personnel by taking disciplinary actions on all those involved in misrepresenting the facts that were sent to the public.

The IBEDC said, “We have reviewed this in the spirit of openness, transparency and accountability and found that to be correct.

“Management hereby acknowledges the energy and passion the Regulator and other stakeholders have put and continue to put into making this program- Revised Service Based Tariff succeed and has taken swift action to correct this and send the right signals to our personnel by taking disciplinary actions on all those that were involved in misrepresenting the facts that were sent to the public.

“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism within our organization, and necessary disciplinary action has been taken accordingly.

IBEDC has therefore also apologized for any confusion or inconvenience caused by the misrepresentation and reaffirmed its dedication to providing a reliable electricity supply to all its customers, including those in Band A and across its entire service area.

The management said, “We remain committed to serving our customers with excellence and integrity, and we appreciate your continued support and understanding.”
